RCB has reserved group site No. 1 at the Lost Creek Group Campground (elevation 5700 feet) which is located approximately five miles south of Manzanita Lake, 1/8-mile south of Crags Campground and close to the Lost Creek and Devastated areas in the Mt. Lassen National Park. Access to the campground is off the main park road. It is close to the main attractions and hiking trails of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Potable water and well-developed vault toilets are in the campground. A general store, showers and other amenities are a short ride from the campground.

The Lost Creek area is dominated by large ponderosa pines.

The national park is known for its volcanic history, as well as its diversity of plants and animals. It contains 300 active volcanic domes and many hydrothermal features, such as mud pots and steam vents. Lassen Peak is the southernmost active volcano in the Cascades, and the second most recent volcano to erupt in the lower 48 of the United States before Mount Saint Helens. The park is at the junction of the Cascade Mountains, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Great Basin, thus providing many unique habitats.

Within a short ride, one can access several hiking trails and Manzanita Lake. The lake is popular with fly fishermen for catching trout; however, the area does maintain a catch-and-release policy and requires the use of artificial lures and single barb-less hooks only.

There will be a planned ride from Sacramento on Friday morning with details to be posted in the RCB Forum as we get closer to the event. Participants will be on their own for the ride back to Sacramento. Firewood will be provided by RCB. Whether dinner Friday and Saturday night will be provided by RCB (with a co-pay) will be determined as we get closer to the event.

A National Park entrance fee of $20.00 must be paid when entering the park and before one can camp. Senior passes and yearly passes can be used in lieu of the entrance fee.

Please contact Jack Klauschie with questions.
